The newly born radio station started test transmission on Monday July 20, 2020, operating on 102.9 MHz on the FM band. The station will operate under the tagline "Yagye Baabiaa".

Kaakyire FM which is located at the Berekum main station, operating from the second floor of Mr. Boabang's storey building, opposite Adwenpa Plaza is a commercial station which will focus more on politics, sports, music and entertainment programs.
The station is run by owners of Kaakyire Media which has Kaakyire Kwame Appiah (Highlife Artiste) as the owner. Kaakyire will be managed by Mr. Felix K. Oppong Kyeremeh.
According to management, the station will start its normal programs soon with top and seasoned on air personalities from Bono, Greater Accra, Western North, Ashanti and Eastern regions to give Bono and beyond nothing but the best of radio broadcasting.
"Berekum is one of my homes because of the love shown since the start of my music career. I have established Kaakyire FM to show my appreciation to the good people of Berekum and Bono, Mr. Appiah said".
